What can I say…….
I don’t think I ever identify my self as a shopaholic BUT my eyes do tend to wander a little…..particularly, during the work day….when it is from home.
Guilty as charged…..every time I need a mental break, I have two go to sites – CNN (for my news fix so I don’t sound like a complete idiot talking to someone) and you got it, Amazon.
I don’t know what is it about Amazon. Mind you I wouldn’t go so far to say I’m a huge fan BUT every time I need toothpaste or really anything (which is everyday), Amazon is the place to go.
It maybe the clean site design, or the fact that you can find absolutely anything there (and I mean anything) or my husband’s credit card linked to our family account saving me the shock at the end of the month! It is the proverbial store that I visit for all my needs, to the point where I think it is an addiction. If there isn't an Amazon delivery person darkening my doorstep at least once a day, I feel the day has lost it's luster. My husband on the other hand is not so pleased.
Unfortunately for him, my girls have caught onto it too… when my daughters have a free moment to themselves, guess what I catch them doing – yup you got it, browsing the online store. We have had our fair share of clothing, jewelry, necessities, household trinkets, pots and pans, shoes and even furniture show up at the front door from Amazon. To the point where if a birthday is coming up its a point and click away. Be it cooking or when we have a eureka moment out comes the phone as we start searching for our next conquest. This has gotten to the point where we now have been told to ask my husband for permission every time we shop on the site!
Yesterday, the dog chewed through his leash while I was walking him. Like a cowboy in an old western I reached to my side and whipped out my phone, I didn't even debate if I should perhaps catch the run away dog first, as I point clicked my way to a new leash! "I will explain it to my husband later", I think to myself.
Two days ago my daughter goes into the account and fills up the cart with her favorite necessities and everything in between. She did have the foresight to ask her dad, but what can the poor soul do – deny his kids their shampoo and conditioners? Of course not, muttering under his breath he relents. And so the saga continues, so far Amazon is winning hands down.
This morning as my husband walks into the living room I am lying on my back on the yoga mat, with my phone in hand….
“Good Morning hon, no yoga today?” he queries.
“In a moment….” I reply as I browse Amazon for something new for my dog. "He'll understand", I think to myself.
